Today is the 50th anniversary of the day Alaska became the 49th state of the United States of America. There are many good articles out on the web about this important milestone and the state government has even formed the Alaska Statehood Celebration Commission to organize events for the anniversary. There are some festivals and activities happening today that we might try to get involved with, like fireworks and a bonfire tonight.
