Last week was Teacher Appreciation week with Teacher appreciation day being on the one of those days. Our principal baked us the most amazing triple chocolate cakes and sent us out an email to let us know how awesome we are doing and thanking us for all of our continual hard work. I am fortunate to work for a principal who is appreciative and supportive of all that we are doing. In her email was this quote, which puts teaching into a small bit of perspective...
If a doctor, lawyer, or dentist had 40 people in his office at one time, all of whom had different needs, and some of whom didn't want to be there and were causing trouble, and the doctor, lawyer, or dentist, without assistance, had to treat them all with professional excellence for nine months, then he might have some conception of the classroom teacher's job. ~Donald D. That is an interesting quote. It gives other professions a taste of what it's like to be a teacher. Some people think it should be an easy job, but it is in the top three spots for most stressful job (1. Air Traffic Controller, 2. Police Officer, 3. Teacher). Hmm, I wonder why it is so stressful...?
