Statement as of 4:48 AM AKST on December 15, 2009 ... Wind Chill Advisory in effect from 3 am to 9 am akst Wednesday... The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a Wind Chill Advisory... which is in effect from 3 am to 9 am akst Wednesday. Cold temperatures and north wind will bring 25 below to 40 below wind chills to the Kuskokwim Delta after midnight tonight. These wind chills will persist into the morning hours Wednesday before temperatures begin to warm. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in frostbite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. |
