The moon looked so cool over Bethel this morning. The sliver of this waning crescent moon was ablaze this morning. It was in a straight line with a planet (probably mercury, but possibly venus) and the rising sun. The scene was made all the more magnificent by the dawn colors spreading along the horizon and reflecting off of the little pond out in the tundra. This picture was taken around 8:30am. The picture, of course, does not come close to showing the true brilliance of the glow of the moon and mercury...they were so bright.
Part of what made it really amazing to look at was that you could see the whole surface of the moon even though only one tiny sliver of the light side of the moon was facing us. Can you see the man in the moon? Cool, huh?
