I decided today that Number 16(have vegetarian night once per week) on my Birthday list IS number 14(start a new family tradition). I was reading the newsletter that comes each week in my csa box of organic vegetable that are flown in from washington state and there was an article in it about eating better. One of the tips that they recommended was to eat vegetarian one night each week. And they recommended visiting the website www.meatlessmonday.com for ideas on how to do that successfully. So I decided that our new family tradition is going to be....
wait for it....
MEATLESS MONDAY!
(you thought I was going to say game night or something, didnt you?)
Ok...Number 14...complete.
And by the way, for our vegetarian night this week, we are going to have breakfast for dinner, eggs, hashbrowns, and toast. It will be tomorrow because i didnt decide on the meatless monday thing until today so we'll start that next week!

We LOVE breakfast for dinner in our household--the little guy would eat "eggies" and pancakes every night if we'd let him. Good luck with the meatless Monday---that would be something I would struggle with. I have this idea locked in my head that we have to have a meat, a starch, and a green vegetable every night, and I have trouble veering away from that (except for breakfast night).
Lish,
it takes like 3000 gallons of water to raise one pound of steak compared to like 100 gallons for a pound of potatoes (figures might be off a bit, I'm going off of memory). If everyone in america just ate veggie one night a week we could really save some resources.
I've been going veggie a lot more out here on the island (not that I have that many veggies). But trying not to eat that much meat. I will always eat seafood, and the killing part doesn't really bother me, but the hormones and chemicals do.
Fresh Fruit and Veggies, berries and seafood, and lots of hugs! Thats a diet.
Happy spring (i use that term so loosely). I'll be in for Camai, we should get together ok?
